About

For the main prayer hall of Al Irfan Grand Mosque, Preciosa Lighting conceived and handcrafted three bespoke lighting installations, each rooted in our Signature Design: Pearl Curtain. The commissioning vision called for a work of light within the Mihrab — the semicircular niche that forms the architectural and spiritual heart of the prayer hall.

The composition comprises three distinct installations. At its centre, the longest piece unfolds in a graceful double spiral, creating a dynamic focal presence. It is accompanied by two complementary installations — one rotating clockwise, the other counterclockwise — forming a harmonious dialogue between movement and stillness.
Each installation consists of handblown white opal and crystal spheres in shades of blue. Their colouring was carefully designed to correspond with the handwoven carpet beneath them, together forming a harmoniously unified whole.
Illuminated opal spheres, discreetly integrated with LED light sources, emit a soft, ambient glow that enhances the atmosphere of serenity and devotion throughout the prayer hall.

In her work, she enjoys combining an artistic approach with the principles of serial production.

The overall double-helix form can be perceived as a divine gesture, transcending prayers toward the sky. The helix, a timeless and transcendent shape found throughout nature and the cosmos, evokes a sense of continuous motion, growth, and spiritual ascent — an elegant upward movement captured in the design of our bespoke lighting.

Location

Al Irfan Mosque

At first glance, Al Irfan Mosque presents itself through harmony, thanks to a balance of simplicity and grandeur. Its slender minaret rises above refined Islamic motifs, thus bridging tradition and modernity. An innovative structural approach draws daylight deep into the interior, even within a dense urban setting. At the building's heart, the traditional liwan is reimagined as a striking circular form that draws visitors inward, where geometry and light conspire to produce stillness.
